The Widow Elizabeth (Putnam) Maxfield

I have yet to find an Oregon Trail diary written by a member of the train that my Fisk family traveled with in 1852. But I remained fascinated with descriptions I find in other 1852 diaries, because, as I discovered, my family was only a few weeks behind the train that John Francis Freeman describes in his diary of 1852, and so, the experiences and conditions the Freeman train experienced very well could describe the experiences of my own family.
